The structural steel for a number of large aeroplane shelters was fabricated, transported and erected by Gonzalez Steel for a new maintenance facility at the Williamtown RAAF Base.
This involved the construction of 7 massive hangers with a total tonnage of more than 2,500 tonnes. The hangars featured contemporary exposed architectural steel stylings.
The installation for this project was complex and involved the coordination of multiple cranes. Three cranes were operated in unison to install the structure. All painting was done in-house to an architectural finish with our 3 coat system. The preparation of the steel elements was carried out in sequence to fit precisely to the program and work-in with an array of other stakeholders.
